For many SouthEast boulderers, making the trek up to Boone, North Carolina is a regular and rewarding task. The cooler temperatures, beautiful surroundings, and the chance to climb on a completely different texture of rock are enough to draw us away from our backyard boulders and experience the amazing North Carolina bouldering scene. It is a trip that I have begun to make a part of my yearly climbing schedule and more and more boulderers are doing the same. The best time, of course, to visit is fall and spring; winters can be brutally cold and summers are swimming in insects. Do yourself a favor and visit during the brilliant display of fall colors.
