HORSE PENS OPENED!!!

It looks like access is secured for future climbing at HP40.  The new owner is climber friendly!  See the "News and Trip Reports" page for more info.  Thanks to modump.com for the news.

At the recent Sandrock Hoedown bouldering competition, Kurt Smith of the Access Fund announced that one of the next major projects for the AF is the purchasing or sponsorship of the HorsePens boulders.  Hints were also made about the possibility of next year's Hoedown being held at HorsePens40.

Horse Pens 40 is, hands-down, the best boulderfield in the Southeast. While smaller than Rocktown, it boasts white sandstone boulders of perfect texture and amazing water-etched formations. The slopers here are impressive and you will often find yourself pulling on huge, basketball-sized slopers and slapping up long, deep watergrooves. While the area is currently closed, hopes are high that it will reopen in the near future.

Check back for more information.
