The first two weeks of June finds Sam Lewis and Tim Hinck in Squamish, British Columbia. When we arrive, we discover we are not the only folks from the SouthEast who have decided to escape the humidity of the South and pull down in the 65 degree temps of the pacific west coast. A huge posse from the SouthEast and groups from Utah, Colorado, California and around the world have migrated up to B.C. to climb on the beautiful and highly textured granite. We are greeted with days of blue skies, sunshine, and cool temps. We find we must force ourselves to take a rest day. Among the great people we were to climb and boulder with were Zachery from North Carolina and Julie DeJesus from California. They are both fun and enthusiastic climbers; now we consider them our friends.
While there were many fun and intriguing routes in Squamish, we found ourselves absorbed with the fantastic bouldering we found in the woods at the base of the Grand Wall. Here are pictures from our trip:

This was the view from atop the Stawamus Chief. The city of Squamish lies below and Mout Garibaldi can be seen in the distance.

Even though we did routes that were harder than this one, "Laughing Crack 5.7" proved to be the highlight of all the cracks we climbed on this trip. This beautiful line climbs a handcrack splitting a clean white granite face. It is not in the guidebooks, but the locals told us how to find it. Amazing! Here is Sam leading this perfect pitch.
